What will my dog learn on the staycation? - Your dog will begin to learn and develop manners with life skill cues of Sit, Down, Place, Touch/Recall, Leave it, Drop It, walking skills, impulse control, name recognition, self-soothing, and more! We reward your dog for their good decisions so the more these behaviors happen, the more they are rewarded during their stay!

Where will my dog stay? - Unlike many other board and train facilities, your dog will be in a comfy cozy home with a certified dog behavior consultant! We privately host your dog in our home along with our resident dog for the most tailored experience possible.

What are the pre-requisites for a training staycation? - Your dog must be dog friendly and crate trained. At this time, we cannot take separation anxiety cases. We currently take dogs 8 weeks and older depending on the package you select.

What is an average day like? - We tailor the day to your individual dog! We make sure to continue their usual schedule along with planned enrichment activities, walks, dog play sessions, nap-time, adventure hikes, decompression walks, and multiple training sessions throughout the day depending on what package you have chosen. Training is based on how your dog loves to learn and retain information too. You will receive photos and video updates daily for ease and comfort in knowing your dog is having a good time!

What happens before a staycation? You will fill out our Staycation application below and email contact@thescallywagdogco.com your dog’s up to date vaccination record. Once/if accepted, we will conduct a 60 minute consultation to get to know you, your dog, and if this is the right fit along with board and train expectations (unless you are already a client of ours and had a consultation beforehand!). We will then book a FREE meet and greet between our resident helper dog and your dog. Once this is complete, dates will be confirmed for drop-off and pick-up.

How does payment work? - You will secure your booking with a 50% invoice deposit before your dog’s drop-off and complete payment upon pick-up. We take credit cards, Zelle, or Venmo.

What happens after a staycation? - We will book 2 follow-up training sessions that are included in the price. This way, you are supported with how your dog trained during their stay, continue the learning, and retain the life skills for both short and long term impact. You will also receive your dog’s staycation “souvenirs” with a virtual scrapbook of their time with us and Scallywag logo bandana. Lastly, we put together an individualized behavior plan of what your dog has learned during their 1 week or 2 week stay, step by step exercises to continue their training, recommended resources, and what we have noticed in your dog’s behavior to help you and your dog understand one another more thoroughly!
